Charging cost settings

Article contents

Time and price rules determine when charging may use available grid capacity and when it should remain in an economic mode or wait. The electricity price used for control is separate from the price charged to a driver.

Information you need

  • Days and times when each mode should apply.
  • Off-peak tariff information if it is a condition for higher charging power.
  • A current purchase-price source and the configured multiplier or surcharge if you want a price threshold.

The purchase price is evaluated in EUR/kWh excluding VAT. Depending on configuration, it may not include every distribution charge or other item on your bill. Define which components you are comparing when assessing costs.

Time, tariff and price

A weekly schedule can use MAX at night and Surplus only during the day, for example. Higher charging power can additionally require an off-peak tariff or a current purchase price below a selected threshold. If both conditions are required, both must be satisfied.

A missing required tariff or price input does not automatically permit MAX. The selected economic mode applies. An explicit scheduled pause suspends charging during that interval.

Configuration and evaluation are different

A rule decides when to charge. Evaluation then compares energy delivered, time and the prices applied. A lower instantaneous price alone does not prove savings for the whole operation: the energy quantity, other charges and when you would otherwise have charged also matter.

These are rules based on time and the current price, not advance selection of the cheapest future hours based on departure or a battery target. Power limits remain in force even when electricity is cheap.

Where to go next

The original local SmartSystem screens retain their separate cost configuration instructions. Cloud modes are explained in solar, ECO and COMFORT.

Model example

A business permits MAX from 22:00 to 06:00, but only during an off-peak tariff and below an agreed purchase-price threshold. If either condition fails, vehicles remain in the configured economic mode. COMFORT can bypass time and price conditions for an urgent session; technical limits and an explicit user or BMS stop still apply.
