Solar power and Eco mode
Article contents
A vehicle can use energy that the building does not currently need. AgeVolt EMS adjusts charging to the available solar surplus. This article explains the principle and mode selection; the specific steps for the original local interface are provided below.
Generation and surplus are different
Control needs to know the energy flow at the main supply, including the building's consumption. Surplus is energy that would otherwise flow into the distribution grid. Measuring panel generation alone is insufficient for this type of control.
Two different objectives
| Objective | What it means |
|---|---|
| Use the available power | The vehicle charges within the configured limits of the main supply and distribution circuits, including energy from the grid. |
| Charge from surplus power | Charging adjusts to the surplus with the aim of keeping the main supply's consumption near zero. When the surplus is insufficient, charging can be limited or suspended. |
Original SmartSystem modes
| Name in the local interface | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Charging only from Surplus – min 6A | Uses surplus power first. If it is insufficient, it maintains the configured minimum current of 6 A and may draw energy from the grid. |
| Charging only from Surplus+ | Uses only the available surplus power. It suspends charging when the surplus is insufficient. |
| Charging only from Surplus – without surpluses | An additional setting in the original interface. Its combination with other options must be configured for the particular firmware. |
These option names and their availability refer to the original local interface, rather than automatically applying to every TouchPoint variant. The minimum current, behaviour during fluctuating generation and the vehicle's response determine when charging can continue.
Choose a mode according to how the vehicle is used
A vehicle regularly parked at home during the day can use a surplus-only mode. If you also need to replenish energy when generation is low, choose a corresponding mode that uses grid energy. For a company fleet, priorities and supported time settings can be added. None of these modes alone guarantees a full charge by the departure time.
